What does Kootenay Employment Services do?
With offices in Creston, Cranbrook, Fernie and Invermere, we administer multiple employment contracts, funded by various stakeholders including provincial and federal sources. These programs are designed to assist local community members to find meaningful and sustainable employment.
We have staff who work directly with clients across these programs, support staff (including finance, IT, HR, marketing and admin), supervisors and a management team.
Who we look for
When we are hiring we look for ambitious, community oriented, honest and motivated team players. Strong communication and computer literacy are required in all our positions, and we love innovative and solution oriented people.
A well-developed understanding of the local and regional employer community and a good understanding of the local labour market is an asset, and all team members are expected to adhere to privacy and security regulations and protocols.
Due to working with vulnerable populations, KES also requires a clean criminal record check and three work related references.
How is remuneration decided?
Kootenay Employment Services pays above minimum wage in all our positions and aim for a living wage for all. This information is from various sources such as salary surveys, market comparisons, responsibilities and requirements of the position itself.
Remuneration for each role has a range, and relevant experience and education provide information to determine where in that range each applicant would be appointed. Some of our positions require extensive training and it is rare that someone comes with the skills to reduce this. However in most front line positions there are opportunities for staff to increase their wages with a competency based model. As you grow in this position you can see clearly in the model, your level of pay, and as your required skills rise, so too can your wage

We appreciate and encourage applications from members of the Indigenous community, racialized minorities, persons with disabilities or mental health diversity, and persons of various sexual orientations and gender identities.
We provide accommodations where necessary, both during the application process and for our team members. Please advise us of any accommodation(s) that you may require, information will be addressed confidentially.
